Our Story

We’re a group of South African podcasters who all agree that it’s time for the industry to grow up and take its place next to other media channels.

We’re passionate about creating great shows, and many of us are professional podcast producers, creating branded shows, building valuable audiences, and creating communities.

But it’s not easy. Few podcasters can make a decent living on podcasting alone.

We want to grow the entire podcast scene in South Africa, from hobbyists to amateurs who want to turn pro, to networks and studios who want to make a big impact on the SA media scene.

So, together, we created the South African Podcasters Guild to grow, improve, and professionalise the industry in South Africa.

Our 1st-year goals

These are the things the SAPG is working on right now.

  1. We’re building an online community platform with Whatsapp Communities.

  2. We’re creating two major annual events, the Guild Festival and the Guild Awards.

  3. We want to attract 1000 SAPG members in our first year.

  4. We’re developing a standardised set of metrics and data to enable media agencies, clients, and sponsors to easily and safely do business with SAPG-approved podcasts.
